Dirt to water, tracks to wakes. After a career-ending motocross injury, I traded two wheels for a jet ski. Follow my journey from a vintage Texas garage rebuild to the World Finals.
I started racing dirt bikes when I was 11 years old, who knew 6 years later it would turn into a completely different style of racing. I started racing jet skis at 17 years old. My jet ski racing journey started from a very good family friend, Danny. My family and I traveled down to Lake Havasu City, AZ where Danny just got a new 2020 round nose Yamaha Super Jet. He generously let me ride it, and then my love for jet skis was born. After leaving AZ, I went to a Motocross race and my career in MX sadly came to an end after I tore my ACL, that’s when I decided to make the most out of Jet Ski racing. A couple weeks later in 2020, back in Texas, my dad and I started to rebuild his vintage Kawasaki 550SX.
Fast forward to the summer of ‘22, I did my very first race in the Vintage Class on the 550SX my dad and I built together. Shortly after, I acquired a new Kawasaki SXR in and took it the World Finals in Lake Havasu City, AZ, back to where the passion was born. I am truly thankful for all the people standing in my corner and along side this adventure with me!

From a vintage 550SX to the World Finals: How Megan Burns (#29) turned a family tradition into a professional racing career.
In 2021 my dad introduced me to standup Jet Skis. He taught me how to ride his vintage Kawasaki 550SX from when he was a kid and since then I've loved riding. I moved up from a Kawasaki 550SX to a 2023 Yamaha 4 stroke Super Jet, and that's when I decided I wanted to race. I lined up at my first race in May of 2024 and have been hooked ever since.
In March of 2025 I moved up into the Ski Modified 1100 class on my Fast Powersports GP1R. I've continued to race in events ranging from local Texas rounds to World Finals in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. With the 2026 season coming up, I look forward to improving and having an even better year than the last!
